Plain english. No clause here exists to catch you out.
Estimates are not quotes
The price you see from the estimate builder is a starting point based on what you selected. It is not a binding offer. Once I understand your project properly I will send a real number in writing, itemized, and nothing gets built before you agree to it.
How projects work
Work starts once a deposit is paid. Larger builds are split into milestones so you are never far ahead of what has been delivered. Every package includes revision rounds. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately and only starts once you approve it, so nothing appears on an invoice as a surprise.
What you own
You own your domain, your content, and the finished site once it is paid for. If you want to move to another developer, I hand over the code and the database and help with the transition. I keep the right to show the work in my portfolio unless you ask me not to.
Care plans
Care plans are month to month and optional. Cancel any time and the site is still yours. Plans cover hosting, updates, security, and the changes described in the plan. Anything larger is quoted first.
Rebuilds
Clients on a care plan can have the site fully rebuilt at half the original build price, once every two years. It is there so that a change in your business does not mean starting over and paying full price twice.
What I do not do
I do not build systems that store social security numbers, full payment card numbers, or medical records. Those belong with licensed providers built to handle them, and your site connects to those instead. Payments are handled by established processors so that card data never touches anything I built.
Uptime and limits
Sites are hosted on established infrastructure, but no host is perfect and I do not control outages at providers. I will get things back up as quickly as I can. I am not responsible for lost business resulting from downtime, from third party services changing, or from search engines changing how they rank sites.
Hardware and repairs
Repair work carries a 90 day warranty on the component I serviced. Diagnosis is free and you get an honest quote before anything is opened. Water damage and board level work is quoted after inspection because the extent is not knowable in advance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
